Who Are These 2 Days For?

Spent countless hours looking for solutions?

You’ve tried everything you could find online, yet your dog’s behaviour still hasn’t changed the way you hoped.

Going back and forth with your dog’s behaviour?

Some days it feels like you’re making progress, other days it feels like you’re right back at the start.

Your dog is affecting your quality of life?

Walks, visitors, and even daily routines are stressful because of your dog’s reactivity or habits.

Tried and wasted money on other trainers?

You’ve invested time and money before, but never got the results you were promised.

Struggling to get consistent results as a trainer?

Your clients’ dogs progress in some areas but regress in others, and you’re left searching for a system that works every time.

Missing a system that works across all cases?

Whether you’re a trainer or an owner, you want a clear, repeatable approach that gets results you can rely on.

"Owning a Reactive Dog Was One of the Most Stressful Times of My Life

Despite my efforts, Ranger’s behaviour worsened. I realised the issue wasn’t my effort; it was that I was using the wrong methods for him.

I ditched the treats and took a more structured approach, and within weeks, progress was visible. But even then, I wasn’t happy. I was micromanaging his every move.

I soon realised I was training too much. I wanted Ranger to enjoy life, not just obey commands.

After more learning, I discovered 20% of my efforts were driving 80% of the results.

By simplifying my approach, Ranger became more obedient, confident, and happier. Our walks became effortless, and stress disappeared.I turned this approach into a step-by-step system that helped other dog owners, and the results were life-changing."

Hear From Owners Who’ve Seen These Methods in Action

“It’s really incredible”
“I have really enjoyed the three days. I like to think Gumbo has as well. It’s really incredible, the transformation that’s taken place within three days. We both learned a lot, and everything’s really made sense in a way that makes it easy to take forward.” – Taylor & Gumbo
“Truly transformational."
"We drove down from Plymouth desperate to fix our reactive pup. After positive-only trainers didn’t help, YCA’s honest approach blew us away. By mid-week, we were calmly sipping pints in a pub with five dogs around us, something I never thought possible in such a short time”
"Life with Lake is Finally Peaceful"
"After months of frustration and failed training, we finally found a programme that worked. Walks went from chaotic and stressful to calm and enjoyable. Now, Lake has complete off-leash freedom, and we can take him anywhere - something we never thought possible." - Jacques & Janina

“Years of reactivity, turned around in just 5 days”

"When people say highly recommend, I cannot stress this enough! I came to the YCA with an extremely reactive German shepherd, we did a weeks intense training and the change in him is just unbelievable. Before this, walks were stressful and not enjoyable. Now my boy can walk of lead around other dogs. It’s been life changing for us both! Every single staff member were absolutely incredible. I really cannot thank them enough!"

I'm ready!
  • In just 2 days, you’ll be able to…

Use a proven system to turn barking, lunging, and pulling into calm, controlled behaviour.

Avoid the everyday mistakes that make reactivity worse (most owners and trainers don’t even realise they’re doing them).

Learn how to keep dogs motivated and focused, even outdoors, not just in the kitchen with treats.

Build a clear communication system so dogs understand you and listen the first time.

Develop a recall you can trust, so dogs come back every single time, no matter the distraction.

Finally enjoy walks with calm, reliable dogs, without the constant stress and frustration.

Understand dog behaviour on a deeper level, so you can face any challenge with confidence.

Juno and Helen

Client Spotlight: Real Results, Real Stories

My reactive border collie, Juno, had been getting progressively worse since around 6 months old when she was set upon by a lab and then a golden retriever. From that point she became nervous and aggressive. I first saw YCA when she was about 8 months old and heard about the boot camp. I couldn’t afford to do it that time but then after trying ALL other options and some other trainers, I knew I had to get their help for Juno to have a happier life being more dog.

We did the boot camp in August, when the week was done I actually had a little cry in my car. Suddenly I had gone from feeling helpless and criticised as a dog owner, to having a toolkit and empowered to guide Juno on the choices she can make in certain situations which then lead to off lead freedom. It wasn’t a magic fix, we are still working on her (actually mine more so) issues with the support of the amazing team at YCA. BUT she’s off lead, she’s less reactive and she’s happy and I’m less stressed.

Shout out to Kirky and Elisha, particularly Elisha who has a no nonsense, practical approach to getting results. She’s on the ball with everything, unbelievable intuition and understanding of dog behaviour. I’m humbled with every session.
Thank you for helping me be the dog owner that Juno needed. We get to enjoy our mountain hikes without the stress now. Worth every single penny.

Thanks to all the guys at YCA for their help with Atlas last week, especially Elisha, AJ and Kirky. The difference in just five days has been incredible. We used to avoid other dogs on walks, and now we’re actually looking for them so we can practice. The training was really focused on our goals and gave us the chance to work around other dogs in a controlled, safe way. It made us feel a lot more confident handling him in tricky situations. We’re now also able to give him so much more freedom which he is really enjoying and his manners around other dogs have improved massively. We left bootcamp super happy with how far he’s come, and with plenty of things to keep building on. I’d definitely recommend YCA to anyone looking to put in the work and see real results with their dog.

Most importantly: If you’re unsure about the YCA - don’t be. It will change your life. When we adopted Goose, our little rescue, we weren’t prepared for the level of reactivity he had. Despite our dedication and regular obedience training, we couldn’t get within 50 metres of another dog without a full-on reaction - barking, lunging, no focus, and no way to reach him. We were constantly avoiding certain streets, trails, or parks, and Goose was always on leash. We felt discouraged and quietly wondered if we’d taken on more than we could handle. His reactivity wasn’t aggressive - it was social reactivity. He was overly friendly and didn’t know how to regulate his excitement around other dogs. But that didn’t make it any easier to manage, and it still kept him - and us - from enjoying the life we wanted together. Then we found the Yorkshire Canine Academy. It started with their YouTube videos - for the first time, we understood that Goose’s reactivity wasn’t just an obedience issue. It was about how he felt around his triggers.. and until we addressed that, nothing would truly change.Since joining the TWI Program, everything has. With the support of Ian Kirk, Elisha King, and the entire YCA team, Goose has transformed - and so have we. We now enjoy fully off-leash hikes, confidently pass other dogs on trails, and live a life of freedom together. Goose has perfect recall, a solid heel, and clear understanding of helpful commands that keep us both safe and connected. We trust him - and he trusts us.And best of all - YCA helped us achieve all of this without changing who Goose is. His friendliness and love for other dogs are still part of him, but now he has the structure, confidence, and understanding to navigate the world calmly and respectfully. What makes YCA so special is that they didn’t just help us “control” Goose - they helped us learn who he was at heart. They showed us how to understand his needs, his temperament, and what fills his cup. This wasn’t about creating a dog who’s obedient because he’s scared to disobey - this was about building a confident, fulfilled dog who wants to listen, because he feels safe, understood, and free.Goose is now the happiest, most balanced version of himself: curious, calm, goofy, and fully present with us. The bond we share today is because YCA taught us not just how to lead, but how to connect. And the course isn’t just for your dog - it’s personal training for you. It teaches you how to be the kind of leader and trainer your dog truly needs. The skills, mindset, and theory you learn don’t just improve your dog’s life - they help you grow into the best version of yourself for your dog.The program itself is brilliantly structured with step-by-step video lessons for every single training point. Jacob Morgan’s instruction in the videos is in a league of its own - he doesn’t just show what to do, he breaks down the why behind it, the timing, the mindset, and how it all fits together. His clear, detailed explanations paired with real-life examples make everything click - whether you’re brand new to training or feel like you’ve tried everything. And through every group call and 1-on-1 session, Ian and Elisha were patient, thoughtful, and fully invested in our success. They never rushed an answer. They gave us their time, their guidance, and their belief - even when we weren’t sure of ourselves.YCA didn’t just help us train our dog - they gave us back our joy, our freedom, and a bond with Goose we didn’t know was possible. If you’re struggling with reactivity or just want more from life with your dog, YCA will change everything.Big thanks to the YCA.

The YCA changed our life. Stark is a working line springer who when I first came in for a consultation was reactive to people and a ball of nervous energy he had no idea how to be still. Every trip out with him I was waiting for him to react to someone, and leaving him at home was a nightmare too, he’d bark and howl the second I left. He had no freedom to just be a dog because I couldn’t trust his recall so he was just getting more and more frustrated.I did some one on one sessions at the academy and then signed up for a 1 week group bootcamp and it’s the best decision I could’ve made for him. He now has a recall I didn’t think I’d ever achieve with him and he gets the freedom to just be a dog. He’s not losing his mind every time someone walks up to us or looks at him. He’s getting to go on more adventures with friends and family and not stressing the entire time.Seeing the results of the others at the bootcamp only highlighted the amazing work that the team do. I can’t thank everyone at the YCA enough!

Best investment you can make for you and your dog.I enrolled in the Training with Instinct programme with my newly adopted Doberman already showing early signs of behavioural issues and reactivity towards runners, bikers, kids etc. I was struggling to establish the kind of relationship where he would respect, focus on and listen to me and with him being a big, strong dog I needed to be able to handle him with confidence.Between the WhatsApp group set up just for us and trainers and almost daily check in calls with others in the programme the support has been the key to our success. These guys really do give personalised advice and truly listen and help you problem solve. Listening to Kirky and the team helps understand the reasons behind the „issues” rather than treating the symptoms.Within less than two months from his adoption Ronnie has reliable recall, can coexist with kids, doesn’t try to chase bikes or runners. I have confidence in him and he trusts me to handle any situation and advocate for him if necessary meaning no reactivity. There are areas that are still work in progress but with the knowledge I’ve gained in this process I’m confident I can handle it from here.Thank you YCA.

Kate A.

I have followed YCA for a long time now as got issues with reactivity in my 2 dogs. I have just spent a week at bootcamp with my Weimaraner and it’s been life changing! It’s not for the feint hearted but if you’ve got issues and prepared to face up to them and turn up and put the work in every day and follow what they teach you, you won’t regret it! The support they give before, during and after is great and they have such a wealth of knowledge and experience in different  dogs and issues! They are professional, they show empathy towards owners, have a sense of humour and love their dogs and what they do! Thank you!

Rico is our fourth German Shepherd. We rescued him at nine months old. That was just over four months ago,  and already, he's the best dog I ever imagined having. I thought I knew plenty about dog training after my last GSD, but figured I'd try something different with Rico, because really, it was a challenge with my last dog. What I was doing did not work. After watching all kinds of dog trainers, over many years, following advice in person, in books and on YouTube, I was drawn to Jacob and Kirky and the crew at YCA because I liked what I saw. Their approach is different than any I've worked with or seen over the years - it's a healthy relationship with their dogs balancing play, discipline and love for their dogs, honoring the true nature of the dogs. The dogs get it, are happy, and understand what's expected of them in a language that's clear to them. I signed Rico up for the "Focus in Four" online and was hooked. It worked. So well, in fact, that I signed on board for the Training With Instinct. Now I don't think the folks at YCA will ever get rid of us. I love their method, it works, and Rico loves it and shines. Quite honestly, it's fun. He looks forward to training time, and gets it. For me, it makes sense. Sometimes, the videos are downright funny, and really, doesn't that help lighten up when we can get so overwhelmed with dog training and take it so seriously? This approach is on one hand a breath of fresh air, and on the other, an awesome bootcamp that we actually enjoy being in. I can't believe what an amazing dog I have after just a few months. We live on a ranch and rarely get to town, so I'm slow to progress with the distraction elements of this training like meeting other dogs and being in other locations, but we're getting there with the solid foundation. I thought I was nuts at first paying what felt like so much, but time has shown me it's worth it and more. Looking forward to continuing, and learning more. I'll share more when I complete the TWI program, but already I can recommend it, and I have to several people who look at me and Rico and have been impressed.  Thanks so much to everyone at YCA for making this program available for us so far away.

Hi, my name is SkyeI am an 8 year old Staffy cross. My humans (Charles & Lisa) rescued me five months ago. They took me for lots of walks but they couldn’t understand why I pulled soooo hard all the time and why I would bark and lunge at other dogs we passed. I tried to talk to them to get them to understand my needs. Then one day while watching your YouTube channel I got them to enroll themselves onto your boot camp course. Charles struggled to start with but with mine and Jacob’s help he began to understand my needs. Over the next five days the process changed his way of thinking which in turn led to a greater bond and more calm relaxed relationship. The structured course with concise easy to follow demonstrations to reinforce the classroom discussions meant I now walk to heel, I don’t give a monkeys about other dogs around me and I even take my humans to the pub for a treat. The whole team at YCA were patient with the humans and went over and beyond helping them understand their dogs needs.Well done, love Skye

I recently attended the Yorkshire canine academy development week. If you are a dog trainer (current or prospective) or an enthusiastic dog owner wanting to improve your skillset and knowledge, I could not recommend this more. The team are knowledgeable, approachable and supportive. As a dog trainer myself who is always looking for ways to improve what I can offer my clients, my capabilities and all in all my own buisness, I could not be happier with what I have learnt. I specifically enjoyed the guest speakers (the mutt nut and Brad), PCA demos & buisness development work.It was also so lovely to see hands on, in the moment dog training workshops with all the working spot dogs, who all progressed massively during the week.Big thanks to Jacob, Kirky, AJ & Elisha.Graham, Bobby and team Quality Chops.

These guys are just the best!I signed up for the 5 day face to face boot camp for my two miniature dachshunds. One was just stubborn and attention barked and the other was reactive towards other dogs and couldn’t be trusted off lead. The whole team were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. They were super flexible and we decided after 3 days to split the boot camp and come home to practice and then I went back and did the other 2 days separately a few weeks later. This worked really well as helped me to build up the e-collar training slowly. After day 3 the demand barking had stopped and Alfie was hardly reactive any more but still on a lead. I completed the last day just with Alfie last Sunday and he has been off lead all week with zero reactivity and I’ve seen his confidence grow more each day (as has mine).I can honestly say it is the best money I’ve spent and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the team. Both dogs have been transformed and are generally so much calmer and I feel relaxed out walking them. It’s given Alfie the freedom that I wanted him to have and we can go out to cafes and pubs when out for walks and no longer have to down our drinks quickly and leave because the dogs were barking so much!Huge thanks to Elisha, Kirke and AJ for their knowledge, skills and training of both me and the dogs. And to Chloe for her support with organising and changing the final couple of days training. If you need help with your dogs stop thinking about doing something about it and invest in your dogs and sign up with the YCA team. You will not find better.Thank you, thank you and thank you for what you’ve helped us achieve.

Development Week FAQs

When and where is the seminar taking place?

The seminar runs Saturday 22nd – Sunday 23rd November 2025 at the Yorkshire Canine Academy HQ in Leeds. It will run all weekend with a mix of theory, practical demonstrations, and live training.

Who is this seminar for?

• Professional dog trainers wanting to refine reactivity and behaviour modification skills.
• Aspiring trainers eager to specialise in behaviour work.
• Dog owners whose dogs struggle with reactivity, anxiety, aggression, or control.

What will I learn?

Topics covered include:
• The underlying causes of 90% of reactivity and aggression (often overlooked in most training plans).
• Motivation techniques for even the most unmotivated dogs.
• Correct vs incorrect use of punishment.
• Building confidence and resilience in nervous, anxious, or shut down dogs.
• Tools, play, and training aids: e-collars, prongs, toy play, and their correct application.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, depending on your ticket type:
• Working Spot: Bring your dog for hands-on training and individual feedback.
• Spectator Spot: Attend without a dog; you’ll observe all theory, demonstrations, and Q&A.

What if my dog is very reactive or aggressive, is it safe?

Yes. The seminar is designed for challenging dogs, and safety is managed carefully by experienced trainers. If your dog has a bite history or severe reactivity, please contact us beforehand so we can advise on suitability.

Do I need prior experience?

No strict requirements. However, you’ll benefit most if you:
• Have some handling experience with dogs.
• Are open to trying new approaches.
• Don’t mind stepping out of your comfort zone as reactivity work can be intense.

What should I bring?

• If bringing your dog: lead, harness, collar, training tools you already use, favourite toys/treats, and something comfortable for downtime.
• Notebook and pens.
• Weather appropriate clothing for indoor/outdoor work.
• An open mind and patience!

Will I still benefit if I don’t bring a dog?

Absolutely. Spectator spots allow you to absorb all the theory, observe live training, and join Q&A sessions. You’ll see a variety of reactivity cases being worked, which gives a broad learning experience.

How much does it cost and how do I book?

There are two ticket types (Working Spot and Spectator Spot) with limited availability. Prices and booking details are on our website. Working spots usually sell out quickly, so book early if you want hands-on training.

Are payment plans available?

Yes, flexible payment options are available. Please get in touch to arrange.

Is food or accommodation included?

Attendees are responsible for their own meals and accommodation. Leeds has plenty of hotels, B&Bs, and food options nearby.

How many attendees will there be?

Numbers are capped, especially for working spots, to ensure quality coaching and individual attention.

Will there be follow-up support?

The weekend will give you tools to continue at home, and our team can advise on further support or mentorship options if you’d like ongoing guidance.
